NFL Network's Peter Schrager, the co-host of "Good Morning Football", recently named the top five most underrated quarterbacks in NFL history and a Tennessee Titans legend was at the top of his list.
Schrager named Titans great Steve McNair as the most underrated quarterback in NFL history this past week.
"Steve McNair was one of the toughest, smartest, most elusive quarterbacks in NFL history," said Schrager.
Here's Schrager's full top-five list.
- Steve McNair
- Otto Graham
- Jim Plunkett
- Joe Flacco
- Ken Anderson

I don't think there's any doubt that outside of Nashville, McNair is incredibly underrated.
If the Titans had won Super Bowl XXXIV, I don't think that's the case — McNair would get the respect he deserves nationally. But because Tennessee wide receiver Kevin Dyson came up just short of the end zone on the game's final play, McNair's legacy isn't what it should be.
I think that one play has likely kept McNair out of the Hall of Fame. If you look at McNair's career numbers, they're similar to the career numbers of Hall of Famers like Troy Aikman and Steve Young.
- McNair: 31,304 passing yards — 174 touchdowns — 91-62 record as a starter
- Aikman: 32,942 passing yards — 165 touchdowns — 94-71 record as a starter
- Young: 33,124 passing yards — 232 touchdowns — 94-49 record as a starter
The Super Bowl wins seem to be the only major difference between those quarterbacks.
Titans fans already knew that McNair is one of the best to ever play the game. That's why it has to be nice for Tennessee fans to see the Mississippi native get some love from NFL Network.
