On Saturday, the Tennessee Vols received a commitment from four-star 2020 defensive end Dominic Bailey.
Bailey, 6-foot-2/290 lbs from Baltimore, MD, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 10 player in the state of Maryland and the No. 19 defensive tackle in the nation.
The Maryland native committed to the Vols over offers from Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Virginia Tech, among several others.
With Bailey's commitment, Tennessee now has five commits to their 2020 class, which is currently ranked No. 21 in the nation.
But that's far from where this recruiting class will end up for the Vols. In fact, I think they're well on their way to a top five recruiting class in 2020.
Just look at what Pruitt did coming off a 5-7 season that included disastrous end-of-season losses to Missouri and Vanderbilt. Tennessee managed to not only land a top 12 2019 recruiting class, but they made a huge splash on National Signing Day by stealing four-star linebacker Henry To'oto'o from Alabama (and the west coast).
And let's not overlook the Vols landing five-star offensive tackle Darnell Wright on National Signing Day. It might have been a foregone conclusion that Wright was going to sign with Tennessee, but it wasn't official until pen met paper. Pruitt (and his staff) was able to show his closing abilities by securing Wright's signature.
If they did all that coming off a 5-7 season, can you imagine what they can do coming off a winning season? Especially with elite recruiters like Tee Martin and Derrick Ansley now on staff.
I don't know how many games the Vols will win in 2019, but I do think they'll be a lot better team than they were in 2018.
If Pruitt is able to lead Tennessee to a seven or eight win season, the recruiting floodgate will likely open on Rocky Top.
I think it's safe to assume that landing players like Dominic Bailey is about to become a normal occurrence in East Tennessee.
