Last week, we mentioned that the Tennessee Vols have been showing interest in Texas linebacker Juwan Mitchell.

Mitchell, a former three-star inside linebacker from New Jersey, entered the transfer portal in March.

It now appears that Tennessee is the team to beat for Mitchell.

In fact, Rivals national recruiting columnist Mike Farrel says this is the Vols' race to lose.

"It looks like that this will be the Vols’ race to lose," writes Farrell.

"It will take a drastic change of plans for him to end up elsewhere," added Farrell.

Mitchell, who led Texas in tackles last season with 62, has two years of eligibility remaining.

The Vols are extremely thin at linebacker — especially inside linebacker. If Mitchell transfers to Tennessee, it would give the Vols' defense a much-needed boost.

Miami is the other program that's making a serious run at Mitchell.
