Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Cameron Batson was involved in a wild altercation with police early Saturday morning.
Batson, who is on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad after four seasons with the Titans, was reportedly stopped for a DUI in Atlanta around 2:00 AM ET Saturday after he was spotted failing to maintain his lane and speeding. He allegedly tried to fight the police officer, which led to the officer firing his weapon.
The former Texas Tech standout then got in his truck and fled the scene, eventually crashing. Batson then left the accident scene on foot and was found hiding by police and taken into custody.
Batson and the officer were both reportedly treated for injuries at a local hospital.
The Atlanta Falcons released a statement about the incident on Saturday:
"We have been made aware of an overnight incident involving Cameron Batson and are currently gathering information from law enforcement agencies. We take this matter seriously and have no further comment at this time."
Batson caught 22 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns during his time with the Titans. He hasn't appeared in a regular season game with the Falcons.
