The Titans lit up the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night to the tune of a 36-22 win. Tennessee played a complete game without any major mistakes and methodically drove the football down the field for points.
Here are the 3 Reason Why: The Titans destroyed the Jaguars
Mariota was flawless
Coming into Thursday night's game, Marcus Mariota was 2-8 at home with 19 turnovers. Something about playing in Nissan Stadium didn't jive with the Flyin Hawaiian. A week removed from a fumble that lost the game to the Colts, Mariota totally redeemed himself by having an unbeiliveable first half.
Mariota didn't have a single turnover the entire game and kept the chains moving on 3rd down. Everyone was getting involved, too. Seven different Titans caught passes, and the Jaguars had no answer.
Tonight, Mariota played like the Titans want him to play. Smart, in control and turnover free.
Oh yeah… and he can throw a block in the open field
Big Plays
Tennessee had four different plays that accounted for 20 or more yards. The offensive line is giving Mariota enough time for things to develop, and the Titans offense weapons are getting yards after the catch.
It all started with this 36 yard touchdown pass to Kendall Wright.
And then the tight ends got involved. Phillip Supernaw tip-toed the sidelines for 30 yards to put the Titans in scoring position. That was followed up by a 47 yard reception by Delanie Walker in the second half.
Big plays were missing from the majority of the first seven games Tennessee played but on Thursday, they were making them left and right.
DeMarco Murray & Derrick Henry
Or should I say Thunder & Thunder.
DeMarco Murray racked up his 4th 100 yard rushing performance of the season and helped establish the running game early. Murray has sneaky lateral speed but what makes him so dangerous is when he turns down the field. He left at the end of the first half with an apparent foot injury but returned to start the 3rd quarter.
That opened things up for Derrick Henry, who got the most snaps he's had all year. Here's how they went.
If this keeps up, there is gonna be a storm brewing. via GIPHY
