The Tennessee Vols are among the top 10 teams for 2021 four-star defensive end Javon Nelson.

Nelson, 6-foot-3/257 lbs from Murfreesboro, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 9 player in the state of Tennessee and the No. 22 strong-side defensive end in the nation.

The Tennessee native told Rivals in January that he's not expecting to make a decision until December, so the Vols have plenty of time to sway Nelson to Knoxville.

Nelson, who is also a standout basketball player, should be one of Tennessee's top in-state targets in the 2021 recruiting class. He has good speed and is explosive coming off the ball, which would fit well in Jeremy Pruitt's defense.

Tennessee certainly needs some impact pass rushers. Nelson would absolutely be a great fit on Rocky Top.
