Dallas Cowboys football is near!
In fact, it's less than one month away. Veterans and rookies are reporting in Oxnard, California on July 26th and will soon thereafter start open practices. In case you were hoping to make it to one of them, the schedule for training camp has been revealed.
Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken put out the dates and times of these open practices starting on July 27th all the way down to August 10th. There will be 13 total open training camp practices.
July 30th will also feature opening ceremonies and a Cowboys Back Together Saturday Fan Fest.
The wait for training camp is always a challenge for NFL fans as football feels so close, yet nothing is really happening in the meantime. This year will feature several fun battles across the entire roster.
Some of the most fun positions to watch will be wide receiver and edge rusher. Will Jalen Tolbert adapt quickly to the pros for a team that needs immediate help at the position? Will the Cowboys' bet on EDGE Sam Williams pay dividends early?
We've seen very little of these rookies in the offseason, and what we've seen has been without pads on. It's a different game once players are fully equipped.
Speaking of rookies, first-round offensive lineman Tyler Smith will also be a player to watch in late July and early August. Reporters have pointed out Smith's improvement in his use of hands which was one of the biggest concerns around the Tulsa prospect.
Will that improvement translate with the pads on?
Cowboys Nation will likely get some answers out of training camp before the team opens the regular season on primetime against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the first Sunday Night Football showdown of the year.
