There is one major storyline surrounding the Dallas Cowboys right now: the quarterback position.
Dak Prescott is a Pro Bowl-level quarterback and the face of the franchise. However, he has been sidelined since week one. And his season-opening performance against the very talented Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense was less than inspiring.
Meanwhile, backup Cooper Rush has filled in for Prescott. The Dallas Cowboys are undefeated with Rush behind center. He is 5-0 as a starter, dating back to last season's win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Rush isn't doing anything spectacular. His stats are pedestrian, and the Cowboys have been anything but impressive on offense. Still, winning is a drug for fans. And fans are drinking the Kool-Aid with how the Dallas Cowboys are playing.
Therefore, there are some believing that there is a quarterback controversy brewing for America's Team. That is especially true, in the eyes of some, if the Cowboys continue to win games.
Troy Aikman adds more fuel to the fire

Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman sounded off on the quarterback situation this week. A former quarterback for the most valuable franchise in all of sports, Aikman knows where Prescott and Rush are coming from.
Aikman believes that the Dallas Cowboys will have a tough decision to make if the team continues to string wins together with Rush behind center. He is coming from the standpoint of not wanting to mess with the success.
“If the (Cowboys win Sunday), you start asking the question, ‘Do we put Dak back in?’ Considering what they’ve been able to do and how they’ve been able to win games with Cooper Rush, I think that becomes a real question the organization has to answer," the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback said during a radio appearance on Thursday.
The Cowboys have been in a similar position before. Dak Prescott took over the starting role in 2016 when Tony Romo was injured. The difference, however, was that the Cowboys were winning and Prescott was playing brilliant football.
That isn't the case right now. Rush, while not making mistakes, is not proving to be a franchise-caliber player. Dallas is winning games due to stellar defensive play, led by Micah Parsons.
Aikman even acknowledged that the Dallas Cowboys are "better" with Prescott. Therefore, the logical thinking would be to put the better player on the field when Prescott is ready to go.
"Dak is the quarterback of this franchise. I love the guy," Aikman said. "And they're better with Dak at quarterback."
Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy have made it known that there is no quarterback controversy. That didn't stop Troy Aikman from giving his perspective on what is becoming a bigger and bigger conversation for the media.
