A.J. Brown’s knack for making game-breaking plays deep down the field is what could transform the Eagles’ passing attack this season.

There is a perception around the league that Brown’s best attribute is his ability after the catch. The combination of strength and speed makes him a nightmare for opposing secondaries.

However, Brown still doesn’t get enough credit for his ability to haul in the deep ball.

Since 2019, Brown ranks atop the NFL in 50+ yard receptions (10) and 50+ yard touchdowns (7).

He ranks second in yards per catch in that timeframe, but that’s mostly because he saw a dip in production last season as he fought through injuries and shaky quarterback play.

Like the Titans, the Eagles have a run-first offensive identity. Jalen Hurts is not known for his deep ball accuracy. He boasted an average of 7.3 yards per attempt, which ranked 15th in the NFL in 2021.

I anticipate Hurts to take more deep shots with Brown on the outside along with Devonta Smith and Quez Watkins. Watkins ranked 13th in yards per reception last season while Smith checked in at No. 23.

The Eagles will have plenty of opportunities to make plays down the field, but Hurts must improve his downfield passing in order to get the most out of his weapons.
