The Green Bay Packers have a void on their roster after trading wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders and losing Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency.

Green Bay doesn't have a true No. 1 wide receiver at the moment. Right now, the Packers' top three wide receivers are Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, and Amari Rodgers.

None of those are suitable options as a top target for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

There aren't many free-agent options available — at least none that can come close to matching Adams' production — which means Green Bay's best bet to upgrade the position is either via the draft or a trade.

If the Packers want to make a Super Bowl run with Rodgers this season (and who knows, it could be Rodgers' last season), they probably need to go the trade route. There's no guarantee that a rookie wide receiver — especially one drafted later in the first round — will be ready to be a go-to option for Rodgers in 2022.

That's why it's not a huge surprise that Green Bay is showing interest in trading for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (according to a report from Pro Football Network).

Metcalf is set to be a free agent after the 2022 season and he's entering the prime of his career.

The former Ole Miss standout had a dominant sophomore season in 2020, catching 83 passes for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Metcalf's numbers took a step back in 2021 — he caught 75 passes for 967 yards and 12 touchdowns — but that's mostly because quarterback Russell Wilson was banged up with a broken finger during the second half of the season.

The Seahawks are reportedly planning to extend Metcalf, but we've seen in recent weeks how quickly those plans can go awry. Green Bay knows that as well as any team. The Packers were willing to offer Adams a mega-contract, but he was ready to move on to the Raiders.

With Seattle having an uncertain quarterback situation after trading Wilson to the Denver Broncos, it's certainly possible that Metcalf could refuse any offer from the Seahawks and asked to be traded.

If that happens, it sounds like Green Bay will be one of the teams looking to make a deal for the talented wide receiver.
