Former Green Bay Packers safety LeRoy Butler knows that quarterback Aaron Rodgers needs some help.
The Packers' wide receiver depth is a bit thin after trading wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, and losing Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency.
Green Bay signed veteran wide receiver Sammy Watkins to a one-year deal on Thursday, but that doesn't even come close to replacing Adams' production.
That's why Butler wants the Packers to trade for either Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf or New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas.
"I advocated openly that I would trade for (Seattle Seahawks receiver) DK Metcalf or (the New Orleans Saints’) Michael Thomas," said Butler recently (via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).

Butler also noted that Green Bay had some interest in signing free agent wide receiver Will Fuller at some point.
There's been a lot of speculation lately that Green Bay could trade for a star wide receiver.
Metcalf would be a great fit for the Packers, but the Seahawks seem to be committed to giving the former Ole Miss standout a lucrative contract extension. Seattle typically doesn't work those types of extensions out with players until mid-summer, so if there's a trade it could be a while.
As for Thomas, he'd be a bit of a risk. He didn't play in any games last season due to an ankle injury. And he only played in seven games in 2020. I'm not sure the risk is worth the reward with Thomas.
The Packers could certainly sign Fuller, who would provide plenty of speed, but he's not really a player Green Bay can count on (he's often injured).
Green Bay has some options, so it should be an interesting couple of months coming up.
