The Dallas Cowboys are a legitimate option to be on prime-time television every week of the season.

After all, folks want to see "America's Team" as often as possible, right?

The NFL, however, will want other teams featured as well. So only certain Cowboys games will be considered for prime-time slots.

Sunday Night Football on NBC is considered the marquee game of the week. And I think we'll see Dallas in that time slot at least a couple of times in 2022 (especially with the Cowboys being valid Super Bowl contenders).

Here are the five Cowboys games that I think will be top Sunday Night Football options.

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys vs Cincinnati Bengals

Not all that long ago, this game would've been relegated to a 12:00 PM CT/1:00 PM ET slot on CBS or Fox. And it probably would've been the No. 3 broadcast team.

Dallas brings national viewership. Cincinnati, typically, doesn't.

But that all changed in 2021. The Bengals reached the Super Bowl thanks to former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, who is quickly becoming one of the most popular NFL players in the country.

Could this be a preview of Super Bowl LVII?

Possibly. And I think that's why this game will get serious Sunday Night Football consideration.

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders have a new team name. Which means they have a lot of new merchandise to sell. I think Washington is going to push hard for a Sunday Night Football game in 2022, mostly for marketing reasons. The Commanders aren't expected to be very good in 2022, so their only hope for a Sunday night game would likely be against the Cowboys (the first even Cowboys vs Commanders matchup would draw plenty of viewers). This is a matchup that probably makes more sense on Thursday night or Monday night.

Dallas Cowboys @ Green Bay Packers

The Cowboys vs the Packers is always compelling television. Dak Prescott vs Aaron Rodgers makes it even better. These are two of the top teams in the NFC. Both of these teams will likely be vying for the top seed in the NFC all season. This will be a pivotal matchup with huge playoff implications. I'd be shocked if this game isn't on Sunday night.

Dallas Cowboys @ Los Angeles Rams

The Cowboys taking on the defending Super Bowl champs. What's not to like? The Los Angeles Rams are what the Cowboys want to be. If Dallas can bet LA in the regular season, it will mean the Cowboys are right on track to reach their goal in 2022, which is obviously to win the Super Bowl.

Dallas Cowboys vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I need to offer a caveat here — this game is only a Sunday Night Football option if Tom Brady returns in 2022. Otherwise, this game is an early afternoon Sunday game. If Brady returns, this could be his last visit to Dallas. Brady is 6-0 in his career against the Cowboys, so this could the last chance Dallas has to beat the GOAT.
