The Chicago Bears are reportedly "hoping against hope" that a specific player falls to them in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Rivals.com's Mike Farrell reported this week that Chicago badly wants to select North Dakota State wide receiver Christian Watson with the No. 39 overall pick.

Watson is a 6-foot-4/208 lb wide receiver who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.36 seconds.

That's obviously an elite size and speed combination that NFL teams dream of having. The main reason Watson might fall this far in the draft is because he played at an FCS college program, so he hasn't faced future NFL players.

Whoever drafts Watson could be getting a top 10 talent. It's just a question of which team is willing to take a gamble.

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah doesn't have Watson falling past the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 30.

The Chiefs have the No. 29 overall pick, too. And they could definitely use a wide receiver after trading Tyreek Hill earlier this week. The odds seem high that they'll take a wide receiver.

If the Bears truly want Watson, they might have to find a way to trade up into the first round. It'll be interesting to see what new Bears general manager Ryan Poles chooses to do. It will certainly tell us more about who he is as a general manager.
