The 2022 NFL Draft is officially in the books with some clear-cut winners in the NFC East leading the way. Let's dive into some including two Dallas Cowboys members, including the biggest of them at the end of the article.
Dan Quinn, Cowboys
There's probably no one more excited about Sam Williams' arrival than Dan Quinn. After losing Randy Gregory in a free agency hiccup, he gets a long, explosive athlete to develop into his scheme.
Not to mention the Cowboys got Quinn three players in the fifth round that the defensive coordinator should be excited about. CB DaRon Bland reminds me a little bit of the Nahshon Wright pick, as he's the exact type of tall, lengthy cornerback that Quinn likes.
Plus, the Cowboys got a Day 2 talent in LB Damone Clark even though they'll have to wait to watch him on the field. John Ridgeway should provide a fun battle to Quinton Bohanna as the team's true nose tackle.

Jalen Hurts, Eagles
It's difficult to come up with a bigger winner around the NFC East than Hurts himself. During the Draft, Philadelphia essentially got A.J. Brown in exchange for a first-round pick. The front office will worry about the cap implications, but Hurts is getting a top-tier wide receiver that's still only 25-years-old.
Heading into the most important year of his career to date, Hurts will have Brown and DeVonta Smith leading the way at wide receiver. Hurts also got some in protection with OC Cam Jurgens in the second round.
Although indirectly, Hurts will also benefit from adding DT Jordan Davis and LB Nakobe Dean as potential defensive centerpieces to the team.
Brian Daboll / Joe Schoen, Giants
No one summed up the Giants' situation than team owner John Mara when he said the team had done everything possible to ruin QB Daniel Jones' development. That's far from the only problem in New York, yet it paints a picture of the task at hand for HC Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen.
You could say it got off to a pretty good start. Having the 5th and 7th overall picks should force you into a good rookie class, but even with picks that high, you could argue the Giants got a steal in each. EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux and OT Evan Neal were ranked higher by many analysts, and the Giants comfortably secured both.
It's way too early in the Giants' project, but those picks paired with more offensive line and wide receiver help in Day 2 should allow the top two decision-makers to have a more accurate look at what Daniel Jones' future is in the NFL.
Jabril Cox, Cowboys
This might sound like a random winner for many, but hear me out. As things stand after the NFL Draft, it seems the Dallas Cowboys' biggest remaining need is linebacker.
Sure, Micah Parsons might have become one of the finest defensive players in the league. But let's look at the depth of the position, excluding UDFAs:
- Micah Parsons
- Jabril Cox
- Leighton Vander Esch
- Luke Gifford
- Devin Harper (Draft pick)
- Devante Bond
At some point, Damone Clark will also be in there, but his status is in doubt for the 2022 season.
You could argue that among full-time linebackers (meaning not Micah, who doubles as an edge rusher), Cox is #1 on the team. That might concern Cowboys Nation since we haven't seen the NFL version of the 2021 fourth-rounder, but that's a major win for Jabril.
On Tuesday night, I also discussed two losers for the Cowboys which you can check out below.
