Controversial wide receiver Antonio Brown tweeted on Monday that he wants to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There's a caveat, though.

Brown tweeted that he wants to retire as a Steeler.

It's unclear if that means he wants to play again for Pittsburgh or if he is ready to retire from football.

Brown will turn 34 this summer.

The four-time Pro-Bowler hasn't played since week 17 of the 2021 season when he walked off the field after an in-game incident while he was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brown last played for the Steelers in 2018. He had some disagreements with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, which led to his dissatisfaction with his role on the team.

Pittsburgh traded Brown to the Las Vegas Raiders (then the Oakland Raiders) before the 2019 season. Brown never played in a regular-season game for the Raiders. He was released after an incident with general manager Mike Mayock. Brown then signed with the New England Patriots.

Brown has only played in 16 games in three seasons since leaving the Steelers. His final season with the Steelers was extremely productive. Brown caught 104 passes for 1,297 yards and a career-high 15 touchdowns in 2018.

Last season, Brown caught 42 passes for 545 yards and a touchdown. There's no doubt he can still be a productive player in the NFL, but he tends to bring drama with him. After going unclaimed on waivers last season, I'm not sure the Steelers or any other team is going to take a chance on the once-dominant wide receiver.
