Bears mock draft Bears draft

The Bears are currently without a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, but that doesn't mean they will be unable to find quality players that can also have an impact this year.

And finding instant impact players is exactly what the Bears do in NFL.com's Chad Reuter's latest mock draft. Reuter has the Bears taking Texas A&M's Kenyon Green and Oklahoma's Perrion Winfrey with the No. 39 and No. 48 picks, respectively.

Drafting Kenyon Green at No. 39 would be a steal

And it would be a massive help for the Bears offensive line. Green is projected by many to be a first-round talent and there are few mock drafts with him falling into the second round. Grinding The Mocks -a website that collects expert, media, and fan mock drafts and determines the average draft position for each player based off that information- has Green going at No. 28 overall. And while Green has trended down over the last months, he hasn't fallen out of the first round in regard to majority thinking.

Drafting Green would also be a massive help for Justin Fields. Finding weapons doesn't always strictly relate to receivers, tight ends, and running backs. It doesn't matter how good your skill players are if your quarterback doesn't have enough time to find them or make an accurate throw. Green would solidify one of the guard positions, which in turn allows Lucas Patrick to lock down the center position while Cody Whitehair takes the remaining guard spot.

The selection of Winfrey is a good one, too

Winfrey isn't a second-round steal, by any means, but he's a massive get for the Bears in this mock draft. He's the perfect pass-rushing 3-tech defensive tackle that Matt Eberflus had in Larry Ogunjobi before Ogunjobi failed his physical.

Perrion's tape is inconsistent, but Eberflus has shown he can coach up players (see Denico Autry) and his scheme is a perfect for Winfrey. There's a ton of upside with this pick and that's exactly what the Bears need in this year's draft.

This kind of start to the draft is exactly what the Bears need and would go along way in helping the team find its footing in 2022 and beyond.
