The Chicago Bears traded future Hall of Fame edge rusher Khalil Mack to the Los Angeles Chargers earlier this month.
Mack was traded essentially to save salary cap space in 2023.
The Bears are going through a rebuild under new general manager Ryan Poles. And while it's clear he has a smart plan, it was still odd to see an extremely talented player like Mack, who is only 31 years old, traded for a second time in his career.
If you're wondering if there are any bad feelings between Mack and the Bears….well, there aren't.
Mack was introduced by the Chargers this week and he spoke about his time with the Bears, nearly becoming emotional at one point.
"That first year there, having all the pieces, all the coaching staff, having the players, Kyle Fuller, Prince (Amukamara), Eddie, (Adrian) Amos, Akiem (Hicks), Eddie Goldman, Leonard Floyd, Danny Trevathan, Roquan (Smith), I could go on and on," said Mack. "Knowing what that felt like out there playing with those guys, it was a special time. Special moment in my life. It was four years I'll never forget. And I thank that organization for taking a chance on me."
Two things are clear from Mack's comments: he's an extremely humble person and he's extremely appreciative of his time with the Bears.
Bears fans are undoubtedly sad to see Mack go. And fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and Denver Broncos are undoubtedly sad they have to see Mack twice a year now.
