On Tuesday morning, news broke, via Pat McAfee, that Aaron Rodgers is returning to the Green Bay Packers in 2022.
Shortly after McAfee broke the news, reports started surfacing that Rodgers is signing a four-year deal worth $200 million to stay in Green Bay.
McAfee, who has talked directly to Rodgers about his plans, pushed back on that report almost immediately. McAfee called the report "false" and indicated that there was no deal in place.
On Tuesday afternoon, Rodgers addressed the rumors via Twitter.
The future Hall of Famer confirmed that he's returning to Green Bay in 2022. But he said the rumors of the contract that he supposedly signed are inaccurate (the signing of the contract and the details).
While we still don't know officially how much the Packers will be paying Rodgers in 2022 and beyond, we know it won't be cheap. Rodgers has won two straight NFL MVP awards. He might sign a cap-friendly deal that allows the Packers some flexibility in 2022, but he won't get shortchanged.
