The Dallas Cowboys will be making its first-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft in just over a week. What direction the team is leaning is still up in the air.

Dallas invested several resources into the defensive side of the ball in the 2021 NFL Draft. The selection of Micah Parsons and other contributors played a key role in the big defensive turnaround.

With holes on the offensive side of the roster, it stands reasonable to believe that the Cowboys will have a similar strategy — just on the opposite side of the line of scrimmage — this year. Wide receiver and offensive line are two important needs that need to be addressed.

However, the Cowboys would be foolish to put need over value. Draft the best player on the board will always be the way to go and is the smartest way to build a championship-level roster.

The Dallas Cowboys have met with defensive tackle Jordan Davis.

Jordan Davis is one of the prospects in the draft that could force the Cowboys to go defense over offense in the first-round. The massive defensive lineman is among the top overall players in the class after dominating for Georgia on the collegiate level.

Davis emerged as a run-stopping force for the Bulldogs en route to a national title. His massive 6-foot-6, 340-pound frame clogged up rushing lanes and led to tackles in the backfield.

The former Georgia star tested off the charts at the NFL Scouting Combine in March. It was one of the most impressive combine performances ever.

His performance at the combine suggests that Davis has incredible upside in the NFL. Furthermore, the numbers point to Davis growing into a difference-making pass rusher, which is huge for defensive tackles.

The Dallas Cowboys have not shown to prioritize the defensive tackle position, especially with premium capital. Jordan Davis is the kind of prospect that would force the team to re-think that stance.

If the pre-draft meeting tells us anything, it's that the Cowboys have some legitimate interest in one of the top defenders in the class. Additionally, both Mike McCarthy and Dan Quinn attended Georgia's pro day last month.

Where there's smoke, there's typically fire.

Pairing Jordan Davis with Micah Parsons would give opposing quarterbacks nightmares. What an exciting defensive duo that would be for the Dallas Cowboys for years to come.
