Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Zack Martin is well-established as one of the best players in all football. Martin has been among the elite of the elite since entering the league in 2014.

The former first-round draft pick has earned Pro Bowl honors every season except one in his eight-year career. Additionally, Martin has been named first-team All-Pro five times — most recently last season.

Simply put: Martin is a generational talent. There really is no other way to put it. He is everything that you could want in an offensive lineman, and the Dallas Cowboys have benefited greatly from his stellar play.

One stat in particular really puts how great Martin is in perspective. The future Hall of Famer has more Pro Bowl selections than holding penalties in his career. That is simply outrageous.

Furthermore, if that is not impressive already, not a single one of those five penalties came in pass protection. All five were called on running plays. It is very difficult to comprehend how insane of a stat that is.

Cowboys' OL must lean on Martin

Zack Martin is a known — and great — commodity, but the same cannot be said for the rest of the Dallas Cowboys' offensive line. There are questions and concerns surrounding the other four linemen with Tyron Smith now down for an extended period.

Rookie Tyler Smith is set to replace Tyron Smith at left tackle, at least for week one. Dallas went out and signed veteran tackle Jason Peters for "depth", so there is a possibility that the three-time All-Pro takes over in that role at some point.

Dallas is prepared for Smith, their 2022 first-round draft pick, to protect Dak Prescott's blindside against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That is a big task for a rookie, especially since Smith had practiced at guard for much of the offseason.

Fortunately, Smith will be able to lean on a trio of great linemen, including Martin.

Tyler Smith will be thrown to the fire right out the gate. It will surely help the rookie playing alongside Zack Martin. There is no doubt about that.

The Dallas Cowboys kick off the 2022 regular season against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night in AT&T Stadium.
