The New England Patriots have a tough decision to make, and it all centers around what the team should do with Mac Jones.

His struggles over the past two seasons have led to many losing faith in his abilities, so the team appears to be in the quarterback market. However, one former Patriots quarterback gave his take on what the team should do with Jones.

"Look there's a lot of different things that they can go. I think, obviously, the number one question is going to be about the quarterback," Brian Hoyer said on Good Morning Football. "I'm going to stick up for my guy Mac (Jones). I know that he's kind of gotten a raw deal the past few years."

And the Patriots also have the No. 3 overall pick, with many expecting them to take a quarterback. However, Hoyer has another idea.

"You know, with that third pick, they have an option. What do you want to do? You're in line for one of the top three guys, but also being a quarterback guy myself and looking at a guy like Marvin Harrison Jr," he explained. "I know what Mac's capable of. You witnessed his rookie year and I don't know if there has been a receiver that has come out in recent times that's more prepared."

So clearly Hoyer thinks that Jones and Harrison are a recipe for success.

Jones had a strong rookie season after being selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. However, after Josh McDaniels left for Las Vegas and Bill Belichick brought Matt Patricia back to run the offense, Jones took a serious decline.

And things continued to get worse this past season despite the team bringing Bill O'Brien back. So many started to think that his time in New England could and should be over.

But Hoyer doesn't think that at all. Instead he thinks that with the right weapons, Jones can get back on track. And Harrison might be enough.

The Ohio State receiver was a Heisman Trophy Finalist, but ultimately lost to LSU's Jayden Daniels. He finished the 2023 season with 67 receptions for 1,211 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns along with two carries for 26 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

So let's see if the Patriots follow Hoyer's advice or go in a different direction.
