Following the tragic shooting that occurred at the the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl LVIII parade and rally, the New England Patriots showed support for the victims involved. 

"On a day that is meant to bring a city and a community together in triumph and celebration, we are deeply saddened and our hearts break for the victim, their families, and the entirety of Chiefs Kingdom following the horrific tragedy and senseless violence that occurred at today's victory parade. We will continue to hold the Chiefs, Kansas City and the entire region in our hearts during this time," the team wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. 

Here are details on what transpired on Wednesday:

Just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the Kansas City police reported that shots were fired around Union Station. They then asked everyone in the area to leave.

According to KSHB-TV 41, the shooting occurred west of Union Station near the garage. Two people are currently detained in connection to the shooting. Multiple people are injured, with the Kansas City Fire Department releasing a statement that as many as 10 victims could have been struck in the act of violence. KC Police have confirmed that among the victims are multiple children who have been transported and are being treated at Children's Mercy Hospital.

The Mayor and Police Chief provided an update afterwards, confirming that one person has died and there are anywhere from 10-15 who were injured. They later specified that there are a total of 22 total victims who suffered from gunshot wounds. 

According to Children's Mercy Hospital, they were specifically treating 12 patients, 11 of which are kids, and nine of them have gun shot wounds. However, the hospital later came out saying that all of their patients are expected to make a full recovery. 

As of Wednesday night, the police had three people detained and under investigation.
