The Philadelphia Eagles released a statement following the devastating shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl LVIII parade on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
The team took to X/Twitter to share a heartfelt message with all of those who were impacted by the tragic event. You can read the text of the statement down below:
"Our hearts ache for the victims, their families, the people of Kansas City, and the Chiefs organization. We are grateful for law enforcement, first responders and all who acted swiftly in the face of danger to support others."
Wednesday’s shooting that took place around 2 p.m. outside Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri left one woman dead and at least 22 others injured, including 11 children. The children wounded are expected to make a full recovery, according to a spokeswoman for Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Police detained three people at the rally and recovered several firearms, according to Kansas City law enforcement official Stacey Graves.
The three people in custody have not been identified and a possible motive is still under investigation, however, it's believed that the shooting "appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire" rather than an act of terrorism, per Graves.
