NASHVILLE — According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Tennessee Titans are expected to hire former NFL safety Colt Anderson as their special teams coordinator.

Anderson played in the league from 2009-2017 with the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills. Anderson played in 84 games during his career.

Since 2020, Anderson has been the assistant special teams coach for the Cincinnati Bengals on the same staff as Brian Callahan.

The hiring of Anderson continues the trend of coaching hires that are intertwined by connections. Everyone that Brian Callahan has hired to his staff has either worked with him before, worked with Ran Carthon before, or has a connection to another member of the staff.

Callahan wants the Titans to feel like a family. He wants to establish a culture that makes players and coaches excited to come to work every day. In order for players to feel that connection to their coaches, Callahan believes the coaches need to be well connected to one another.

"It's huge part of it because if we don't enjoy coming to work together, how are we going to expect anybody else to enjoy working together? And so, one of the goals when building the staff, one of the traits I was looking for is good people. Guys that know how to get along, that know how to build relationships that are positive forces," Callahan told me when I asked about the familial culture he envisioned. "It's hard to ask a team to be connected. It's hard to ask position groups to be connected if they don't feel the same thing from the people that are in charge of the other part of the process."

It's also worth noting that Anderson is the only member of the Cincinnati Bengals organization that Callahan has taken with him to the Titans so far.
