The Buffalo Bills are likely to overhaul the back end of their defense. With Micah Hyde and Taylor Rapp both set to be free agents, and the Bills able to save $5 million against the cap if they cut Jordan Poyer, expect the group of safeties to look different in 2024.
There won't be a shortage of safeties available in free agency, and these are the three biggest names the Bills could pursue.
Kamren Curl, Washington Commanders

This is one that may fly under the radar but Kam Curl was one of the lone bright spots on a bad Commanders' defense. He had 87 tackles last season, which was seventh amongst safeties. He also was expected to hold down the back end when the rest of Washington's defense wasn't giving him much to work with. Washington finished with the sixth fewest sacks in the league. That lack of pass rush allowed quarterbacks to pick apart defenses all season. Curl is still just 24 years old and has four years of playing time under his belt. That combination of youth and experience would be a great addition to a secondary that features multiple trusted veterans in Rasul Douglas and Taron Johnson.
Terrell Edmunds, Tennessee Titans

The brother of former Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds has moved around a lot over the last year. He joined the Eagles ahead of the 2023 season after five years with the Steelers. He was then traded from Philadelphia to the Titans in a deal that sent Kevin Byard to Philadelphia. Edmunds has been a model of consistency since 2020. While his career got off to a slow start after being a first-round pick in 2018, he became one of the Steelers' most reliable defenders. Edmunds is also a reliable run defender when he steps up in the box. On a defense that features a lot of talent, specifically in the middle of the field, Edmunds could play a solid role should he be signed.

Eddie Jackson, Chicago Bears
Jackson was just released by the Bears. Similar to Kurl, Jackson was on the unfortunate end of playing on a defense with no pass rush. The Bears had the second fewest sacks in football, and teams were able to throw all over them. The former All-Pro is still talented. With the right defense around him, he can get back to playing near the level he did in 2018. Even in 2022, he picked off four passes. The talent is still there, the only thing that would make or break this possible signing is the price tag. The Bills could do a deal, but it would have to be a cheap deal. That said, if they could come to terms and combine it with a good draft pick at the position, they would be in business.
