With a tough salary cap situation, it will be difficult for the New Orleans Saints to go for the "big fish" of 2024 free agency. That being said, some of the best deals come from the next tier of available players around the NFL.

Accordingly, who are some targets for New Orleans that would improve their offense next year? Keep in mind that these players would be on short term deals (1-2 years).

3 free agents that the Saints should target in the 2024 offseason

Jauan Jennings, Wide Receiver

I've talked about Jennings as a major target for weeks now. He fits exactly what the Saints need at wideout. He is a physical run/screen pass blocker. Jennings also has a knack for making clutch third-down receptions.

He'd be a smart pickup for New Orleans due to his familiarity with new OC Klint Kubiak, too. He played under Kubiak with the San francisco 49ers and was effective when called upon. Jennings became a fan favorite over the past couple of seasons there.

Damien Lewis, Offensive Guard

The Saints could use more depth on their offensive line at both guard and tackle. They got solid play from James Hurst and Cesar Ruiz inside, but they lack proven depth behind them. Nick Saldiveri could end up being a useful player, but he has not proven that yet.

Lewis is a veteran who has played in multiple schemes with Seattle. He allowed just three sacks in 2023, playing 926 snaps. In a pinch, he would be a solid piece to turn to if a starter inside sustains an injury.

D'Onta Foreman, Running Back

Foreman has played against the Saints multiple times in recent years. He's a powerful runner who takes care of the football. Foreman averaged about four yards per carry behind a struggling OL last season and recorded an impressive 74.0 Pro Football Focus grade.

Behind Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller, he would be a solid veteran option for New Orleans next season. If the Saints retain Jamaal Williams, the need for another RB lessens, though.
