There's a really great concert this week that's right in the middle of this Super Bowl thing that everyone keeps talking about. Kendrick Lamar will take the stage and embarrassing Drake in front of the entire world and I can't wait to see it.

There's been a lot of halftime shows over the years. Today I thought it would be fun to go through all the past halftime shows and put out my power ranking of the top 10 ever. I'll only be including halftime shows from the 90's on. I'm sorry to the University of Michigan's band that performed in 1973. Alright, let's jump into it.

10. Janet Jackson

Everyone focuses on the obvious thing that happened at the end of this performance and it seems really dumb now. But the rest of this performance was a really good star studded event that featured some of Jackson’s biggest hits as well as some of the biggest hits of time from other artists.

Let's also be honest about what happened at the end. It was an iconic moment in American history that people will never forget.

  • Nelly
  • Kid Rock
  • Jessica Simpson

9. Michael Jackson

First Janet and now Michael. This was really the first time that the halftime show became a spectacle. There had always been one, but it was like a show of some sort. One year they did an Indiana Jones themed show. This was the first time it was a singular music superstar just doing their thing.

This show had everything including multiple Michael Jackson's and a bunch of extras. It's not higher on the list because I was seven-years-old at that point and I don't have the same fondness that I do for others.

8. Aerosmith

This one is one that I definitely remember. It’s actually the first one that I remember. I was 15-years-old and this was a convergence of everything that was popular in that time and it hit me right in that sweet spot where this was everything I cared about. I mean Britney Spears when I was 15. Come on!

Plus Nelly was there with Mary J. Blidge and NSYNC. I say again that it was everything that was popular at this time and I loved it.

7. Madonna

I grew up in a house with a mom and two sisters that loved pop music and I listened to a  lot of Madonna growing up. So this was like watching a concert full of songs I was used to listening to when I was growing up. Plus we got to see the wire performer guy and M.I.A. give the middle finger to the entire world.

Then Madonna and the people who helped put on the show completely understood the assignment when they did Like a Prayer with a full choir on the stage.

6. Beyonce

Can you tell yet what era I grew up in? Beyonce is still one of the biggest stars in the world today, but she rose to that fame while was in middle school and high school and naturally that means I’ve been listening to her sing since she was in Destiny’s Child and there were four members of the group.

So it was awesome to see Density's Child have a little mini comeback. Also this moment felt like the moment in which Beyoncé crossed over from being a really big star to a global phenom. She was so good in this one that she came right back a few years later and helped Coldplay with their halftime show that really needed help from Beyonce.

When you watch this you'll have respect for Beyonce's cardio. She never stopped dancing at really any point. Then after all that she sang the hell out Halo.

5. Dr. Dre with Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blidge and 50 Cent

I mean come on. The majority of these artists are from the Los Angeles area and this felt like major milestone in their careers and their lives. To be able come back home and put on a concert in front of their home town and the world was something that was felt throughout the whole show.

Plus Eminem was there and that just felt like something that would never happen in a million years.

4. Rihanna

This wasn’t just really good, it was awesome. Yes, the fact that she was well into a pregnancy during this show is one of the reasons that she got ranked this high, but it’s not the only reason by a long shot. This was a really good performance and it was one of those moments where an artist is performing and you can’t believe you never noticed how many hit songs they’ve had.

Plus to start off with Bitch Better Have My Money from a suspended stage high above the field was amazing and really set us up for what we were about to see. Plus she did it all on here own with no guests at all.

3. Bruce Springsteen

This one gets forgotten a lot but it was awesome. I featured some of the classic Springsteen hits as well guitarist slash Sopranos star Steven Van Zandt. Springsteen even did a power slide that went dang near the length of the stage and into a cameraman. He was 60-years-old at that time.

There was just an energy to the whole thing that some of the older artists or bands (that were there in response to the Janet Jackson thing) just didn't bring to their shows. He was the only one that understood that this was a rock n' roll show. Other than the guy at the top of this list that is.

2. Bruno Mars

This was an incredible show that featured a ton of elements. There was doo-wop, funk, rap, rock and pop. Mars danced like crazy and so did his band. He also played drums in the intro of the show. It was hype.

Then the Red Hot Chili Peppers came out and rocked the place and had the whole crowd jumping up and down. It might be a forgotten one with all the recent shows being pretty good, but to me this will always be the one that came as close as possible to the goat of them all.

1. Prince

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

I mean come on. This is what it’s all about here. The Super Bowl halftime show shouldn’t make you feel emotions. It shouldn’t make you cry because you just saw one of the most beautiful things you’ve ever seen. But that’s what happened the moment Prince started playing Purple Rain in the rain.

You just knew you were witnessing greatness in the moment and you feel on every rewatch. Even the story behind the entire performance is legendary. The part where the guy running the show calls Prince tells him that it's raining and Prince asks if they can make it rain harder. It's just amazing.

Prince also sang Foo Fighters, Jimi Hendrix and Ike and Tina songs. He had an incredible guitar solo for each song that showed why he's one of the best ever to play the instrument.

Seriously, try to contain yourself when he starts singing with the crowd at the end and you see the rain falling. What a moment.
