It is up in the air as to just who the Pittsburgh Steelers will call on to lead the way at quarterback for the 2024 season.

Kenny Pickett is the lone quarterback who is under contract with the Steelers for the 2024 campaign. Pittsburgh released Mitchell Trubisky last week, while Mason Rudolph will hit free agency in March.

Willie Colon would not mind seeing his former team roll out Rudolph at quarterback next season. The former Super Bowl-winning guard was asked during a recent appearance on "The Carton Show" to choose among Pickett, Rudolph, "or anybody else not named Pickett or Rudolph." Colon took some time to issue a ringing endorsement to Rudolph.

"Listen, I’m going to go with Mason Rudolph, if I had to pick," Colon said. "You talk about 8-4-1 as a starter. He won his last three regular season games. You go back to the Buffalo game where he came and rallied in the second half.

"He’s been through a lot. I think Pickett needs more time to grow."

Colon did backtrack a bit when asked to answer whether the Steelers would be better off relying on Rudolph or Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields next season.

"If Justin Fields is in the equation, I’m going to go get Justin Fields," Colon said.

The Steelers have been linked with Fields as of late. ESPN’s Adam Schefter fueled such speculation last week when he claimed that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is a "big fan" of the former Ohio State standout.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan sure has plenty of time to make a final call on this matter.
