For the second time in less than a year, former Tennessee Vols basketball star Grant Williams has been traded.
Last summer, Williams was traded from the Boston Celtics, the team that drafted him in the first round in 2019, to the Dallas Mavericks.
On Thursday, ahead of the NBA trade deadline, Williams was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in a deal that sends PJ Washington to Dallas.
This trade is a homecoming for the former Vols standout.
Williams was born in Houston, but he grew up in Charlotte and attended Providence Day School (the same school that 2025 five-star Vols recruiting target David Sanders Jr currently attends).
The former Tennessee forward is averaging a career-high 26.4 minutes per game this season while averaging 8.1 points per game.
Williams isn't a player that puts up gaudy numbers, but he brings an obvious toughness to the court — he isn't afraid to mix it up with anyone in the NBA, from bechwarmers to LeBron James.
