It's a new era in Tennessee under freshly hired Titans head coach Brian Callahan and whether or not star running back Derrick Henry will be a part of the revamped team remains to be seen.

Henry played the last year of his contract this past season and will hit the free agency open market come March, which means he is allowed to sign anywhere he chooses.

However, if he wants to stay in Music City, Callahan isn't going to turn him down.

“I think a player like Derrick Henry fits into any offense,” Callahan said Friday during an appearance on 102.5 The Game. “He’s been a remarkable player, he’s been the face of the franchise here for a long time. When you think of the Tennessee Titans, you think of Derrick Henry. He’s earned that.

"If he is open to a return that fits for us, I’m never going to say no to good players. I know that he’s been an incredible leader in this building as well, which also carries a lot of weight. You can find ways to use every player. There’s no offensive system that would say ‘I don’t like to have Derrick Henry here.'"

Callahan Says Henry Has 'Gas Left in the Tank'

Henry has been with the Titans ever since they drafted him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft and even though he is now pushing 30, he's proven that he is still a valuable asset to Tennessee's backfield and locker room.

“I certainly think he’s got some gas left in the tank, too," Callahan said. "So, we’ll see where that goes. I know he’s going to hit the market probably and try to see what’s out there for him, but I would never say no to a player like that if they would like to return here and it fits for us. I just think he’s such a fantastic person on top of it and he’s meant so much to this city, I would never just dismiss that.”

Henry has made it clear in recent weeks that he wants to land with a Super Bowl contender next season, but maybe Callahan and the Titans can convince him to stay another year or two.
