With the Green Bay Packers out of the 2023 season, eyes inevitably turn to the draft. There's free agency and other decisions to make, but Packers fans know that the draft is how this franchise really makes it happen — especially with so many extra picks.

Therefore, I invited Packers draft gurus Brian Maafi, a draft guide contributor at Cheesehead TV, and Ricardo Gonçalves, a podcaster at PodPackBR, to talk about potential targets for Green Bay.

I asked them to select one perfect prospect for the Packers for each day of the draft, and they bring great perspectives about these six players.

Check it out.

Day 1

Brian Maafi, Draft guide contributor at Cheesehead TV

S Kamren Kinchens, Miami

A player that I have brought up numerous times on Twitter, podcasts and articles as being a perfect early pick for Green Bay is Kamren Kinchens, a safety from Miami. He fits the Packers needs on the back end perfectly. He is a rangy free safety that can do it all. He can play the run, hit, blitz, tackle, and even cover some wide receivers out of the slot. He would be an immediate starter and upgrade over the Packers safeties from last year.

Ricardo Gonçalves, podcaster at PodPackBR

WR Adonai Mitchell, Texas

Despite having several young, promising receivers who performed well in 2023, the Packers cannot repeat the mistakes of a not-so-distant past by neglecting to invest in the position. There's no better opportunity than capitalizing on the luxurious 2024 WR class by selecting Mitchell, who would come in as the much-needed X receiver that the current offense lacks.

Mitchell is an excellent route-runner, smooth, and moves well coming out of the line of scrimmage. He consistently generates separation, can attack all three levels of the field, is physical, and possesses excellent ball skills with above-average eye/hand coordination. He excels in contested situations and is a weapon in the red zone.

Additionally, he is a good blocker. Mitchell is a WR with the ability to make an immediate impact and has great developmental upside. Adding a WR in the current depth scenario at the top of the draft makes sense if it's someone who can truly make a difference.

Day 2

Brian Maafi

CB Max Melton, Rutgers

A middle-round player that would be a perfect fit for Green Bay is Max Melton, a cornerback from Rutgers. The brother of Bo (the Packers wide receiver), he is bigger than his brother.

He is about 6'0, 195 lbs. He may not have his brother's pure speed, but he does share that same 'dawg' mentality that his brother plays with. He's a hard-nosed run defender and physical tackler.

Melton is a twitchy athlete that can keep up with most slot receivers. He could start out in the slot as a rookie since he has experience playing there at Rutgers. He could also rotate in outside as well.

Ricardo Gonçalves

S Calen Bullock, USC

The safety position already faces a considerable technical deficiency on the Packers' roster, and this is likely to get worse with Darnell Savage, Jonathan Owens, and Rudy Ford all slated to be free agents.

Calen Bullock, one of the youngest players in the entire 2024 draft, stands out as one of the best safeties in coverage. He has excellent range, athletic ability to cover the deep field, and a high level to read and understand what quarterbacks do.

Bullock moves like a cornerback and has the versatility to perform almost all spots in a secondary.

Day 3

Brian Maafi

OL Preston Wilson, Oklahoma State

A late draft pick that would be a great fit for Green Bay would be Preston Wilson, offensive lineman from Oklahoma State. Wilson is a four-year starter for the Cowboys, having started games at left guard, center, right guard and right tackle.

And it's not just a couple games. He has started a full season at center, right guard and right tackle. Wilson started four games at left guard in 2020. He is 6'5, 295 lbs, and has the frame to add another 10 pounds. Wilson is a pass-pro technician.

He could back up at four spots, although guard is probably his best position. The former Cowboy could eventually develop into a starter, and at worst he's a quality backup.

Ricardo Gonçalves

RB Bucky Irving, Oregon

With A.J. Dillon slated to be a free agent and Aaron Jones nearing 30 and with recent availability/durability concerns, the Packers need to plan for the present and future of the running back position. In this context, selecting Irving would be excellent.

He could come in, share the backfield, and eventually take on a larger role, possessing all the necessary traits. Irving is one of the best in the class at receiving passes, has excellent explosiveness and speed, consistently generates big plays, and can hit a home run from anywhere on the field. Elusive and challenging to tackle in open space, he shows great balance and above-average physicality for his size.

He would fit well in the Packers' outside zone plays, and his versatility allows him to be moved around the field, put in motion, and utilized to create favorable matchups. It's challenging to predict how the league views this RB class and where they may be drafted, but there's a real chance Irving could rise significantly on draft boards. Selecting him on the third day of the draft would be excellent value.
