The Washington Commanders are set to conduct their first in-person interview with Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald for their head coaching opening on Monday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Macdonald will meet with Commanders owner Josh Harris, team general manager Adam Peters, and "other Washington leadership."

The Commanders have already touched base with Macdonald via a virtual interview earlier this month. Washington was not able to meet with Macdonald in person because the Ravens were still in the playoffs, but it can now hold such an interview with him as soon as Monday.

The Commanders reportedly are also scheduled to hold a second interview with Ravens assistant coach Anthony Weaver on Monday.

Macdonald just completed his second season as Ravens defensive coordinator. Baltimore led the NFL in points per game allowed (16.5) in the regular season.

Weaver joined Baltimore in Jan. 2021 as both a defensive line coach and run game coordinator. He has since helped to get the best out of multiple Ravens defensive linemen, including Justin Madubuike, who led the team in sacks (13.0) this year.

The Commanders have been on the lookout for a new head coach since they parted ways with Ron Rivera on Jan. 8.
