The Chicago Bears are setting their eyes toward the 2024 NFL Draft and everyone will be anticipating what general manager Ryan Poles will do on draft night.
The Bears are currently in possession of the first and ninth overall picks in the 2024 NFL Draft and four more selections in the following rounds.
The Bears have a lot of arsenal to make some noise throughout the draft and could get some more before they are officially on the clock. In this mock draft, I will have the Bears trading away quarterback Justin Fields in exchange for a 2024 second round pick and a future pick from the Atlanta Falcons.
With that trade established, let's get started with the mock draft.
1st Overall Pick: USC QB Caleb Williams

The closer we get to the NFL Draft, the more likely this seems like the avenue the Bears intend to go with for the future of their franchise. It just makes too much sense to reset the quarterback window in Chicago while getting the best one in the class.
The Bears will pair Williams with newly hired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron who has worked alongside NFL quarterbacks such as Geno Smith, Russell Wilson, and Jared Goff throughout his coaching career.
Williams is the perfect quarterback prospect and it's hard to justify Poles passing up on a franchise altering quarterback for the second year in a row with the number one pick in the draft. He's a no brainer selection with the top pick.
9th Overall Pick: FSU DE Jared Verse

The Bears added one splash on offense, now let's go with a splash on defense with the top wide receivers off the board. Jared Verse was a menace at Florida State racking up 12.5 sacks in 2023 and is the perfect complement to Montez Sweat on the defensive line, who led Chicago in sacks in 2023.
Newly hired defensive coordinator Eric Washington has had a great history of producing top tier defensive lines with multiple different franchises and could help swing this selection to be used on the defensive side of the ball.
Adding Verse to the Bears defense will give the unit two premier pass rushers while having a hungry and opportunistic pass coverage behind them. If this is pick, expect even more turnovers for the team's defensive unit in 2024.
43rd Overall Pick (via ATL): MIA S Kamren Kinchens

Speaking of turnovers, with the added pick from the Falcons in the Justin Fields trade, the Bears can add another immediate starter on defense in Miami safety Kamren Kinchens. The Bears could be in the market for a new safety with a top pick if the team moves on from Eddie Jackson, who could be a cap casualty, prior to the draft.
Kinchens has recorded 11 interceptions and 15 pass deflections over the past three seasons at Miami and will fit right into Eberflus' defense. Kinchens will join the high-flying Bears secondary consisting of potentially Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, Jaquan Brisker and Tyrique Stevenson.
75th Overall Pick: WV C Zach Frazier

The third round for the Bears will be a honey hole to find a new long-term starter on the offensive line at either center or guard. I've previously had the Bears select Georgia's Sedrick Van Pran and Alabama's Seth McLaughlin with this pick but West Virginia's Zach Frazier is another worthy candidate.
According to Pro Football Focus, Frazier did not allow a sack and allowed just seven pressure while playing 359 pass blocking snaps in 2023. He could be the exact type of difference maker up-front the Bears desperately need to protect a rookie quarterback.
4th Round Pick: UVA WR Malik Washington

The Bears add another piece to the wide receiver room in the fourth round in wide receiver Malik Washington. In this mock, the Bears were able to sit back at the position after adding a top name in free agency, allowing them to land Washington in the fourth round.
Washington has been the highest rising name at the position in this class after continuing to impress at the East-West Shrine Bowl. Another strong showing at the NFL Combine in late February could have him rising even higher up the board.
4th Round Pick (via PHI): OSU TE Cade Stover

After snagging Washington 12 picks earlier, the Bears can double dip in the fourth round with another pass catcher in Ohio State tight end Cade Stover. Stover returned for his fifth season in 2023 and caught 41 passes for 576 yards and five touchdowns.
The Bears currently only have Cole Kmet and Stephen Carlson under contract at the position in 2024. With the extra pick in the fourth round of the draft thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Bears can add another tight end by selecting Stover.
5th Round Pick: UNC IDL Myles Murphy

The Bears can put a huge smile on the face of their new defensive coordinator by coming away with not one but two defensive linemen in the 2024 draft. Myles Murphy could help round out the Bears draft in a major way by adding some more youth to the interior of the defensive line. Murphy has been another name that is receiving a lot of buzz at the Shrine Bowl this week and could put himself on the Bears' radar.
Murphy still needs time to develop after recording just one sack and 4.5 tackles for a loss in 2023. In Chicago, he can be given that opportunity while rotating in and out of the defensive line with 2023 draft picks Gervon Dexter Sr. and Zacch Pickens.
