Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning knows new Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan quite well.
Manning and Callahan were together with the Denver Broncos for three seasons (2013 to 2015). Callahan was an offensive assistant in those days, working closely with Manning — specifically as an assistant who reviewed film while helping Manning with protections and rules and regulations.
Thanks to that time with Callahan, Manning knows what the new Titans coach likes when it comes to offensive players. And he thinks that Titans running back Derrick Henry, who will be a free agent in March, would be a good match with Callahan in Nashville.
"Brian Callahan would love Derrick Henry and vice versa," said Manning on Friday to Titans Online's Jim Wyatt. "There's obviously the business side that comes into play. And that's up to (general manager) Ran Carthon and his staff to decide. But Brian Callahan appreciates a good running game. His dad (Bill Callahan) is coming over (from the Cleveland Browns). And his dad is the best line coach in the NFL. I know he appreciates a good back. (Tennessee) would be a great place for Derrick to continue to play, in my opinion."
AtoZ Sports' Josh Queipo and Kyle Dediminicantanio recently projected that Henry will receive a two-year deal worth $20 million with $12 million in guaranteed money and a year one cap hit of $5 million.
