On both sides of the ball, much of the Cleveland Browns’ success starts in the trenches.
Losing their offensive line coach Bill Callahan is a tough card to be dealt, but the Browns must continue to evolve within the unit.
Luckily for Cleveland, it is a really strong class to need to draft a player along the offensive line, especially at offensive tackle.
The Senior Bowl gave folks a preview of what is to come in April and that is many draft-able pieces available on the offensive line. A to Z Sports own Destin Adams highlighted a few players down in Mobile that stood out.
- Kingsley Suamataia, BYU
- Jordan Morgan, Arizona
- Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma
- Taliese Fuaga, Oregon State
Cleveland has future questions at either left tackle or right tackle, wherever last year’s draft gem Dawand Jones does not take over. Jones started the majority of the season at right tackle but could be a guy that slides left depending on what happens with Jedrick Wills Jr. Wills is entering the fifth year of his deal but has yet to show he is a franchise left tackle.
Besides that, the Browns will have to start thinking about replacing All-Pro-level LG Joel Bitonio and adding depth along the line.
Building through the draft is the way to go in the trenches if you can. When these players have to be paid, they are expensive. Having a player on that four or five-year rookie deal is key.
The top of the draft has tackles like Joe Alt and Olu Fashanu who are top-10-level talents in the draft. Cleveland does not pick until the second round in this coming draft, but they’re going to be able to find contributors throughout.
