When the Cleveland Browns hired Ken Dorsey, it was a statement.
The franchise is unwilling to sit idly by as the offense doesn't get the most out of Deshaun Watson.
On Monday, in front of a crop of reporters, Ken Dorsey was asked if he be upset if he didn't get to call the plays. Dorsey's answer was perfect.
“Play calling to me is not as important as winning football games," Dorsey said. "To me, it’s more about, all right, what’s the decision that we feel most comfortable about moving forward to help our team win? And I’ve been in my career more interested about what can I do to help this team win more so than anything else."
Head coach Kevin Stefanski was also asked about playcalling with the hiring of Dorsey. He elected not to answer.
This means that the Browns fans won't know who will be calling the offensive plays until the start of the 2024 season.
Either way, Dorsey isn't worried. He just wants to get the most out of Watson and the rest of the team.
"Whether Kevin’s calling it, I’m calling it, that’s to me, the most important thing is us as a team," Dorsey said. "I could do my job to as high of an ability as humanly possible. I could get Deshaun ready to play each and every week. I can get our room ready to play each and every week because we have got a great room and I’m sure we’ll add to that."
