If you're a Tennessee Vols basketball fan that wants to see students closer to the floor for games at Thompson-Boling Arena, it sounds like you're out of luck.

Vols athletic director Danny White took to Twitter/X.com on Tuesday to address the request that some fans have been asking about for weeks/months.

"I guess since it’s day 5 I’ll answer, but won’t be addressing this again," wrote White. "We already changed the student section prior to the 22-23 season, moving the students from the corner to behind both baskets, closer to the court, increasing lower bowl seats by 40% (1279 to 1717), while keeping the same number of upper bowl seats (2166). We did this to enhance our home court advantage and it has worked. Atmosphere is electric! It’s disingenuous to compare the 3rd largest college basketball arena in the country, that’s sold out for the season, to buildings half the size with a fraction of the season ticket base. Stop the nonsense!"

Tennessee's approach is fairly standard and what you see at a lot of bigger arenas.

In general, the size of Thompson-Boling Arena is never going to allow for an atmosphere like you see at the much smaller Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, NC.

The Vols, however, still have one of the best home court advantages in college basketball.
