Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is set to square off with the Kansas City Chiefs for the fifth time in his career on Sunday.
Jackson holds a 1-3 record all-time against the Chiefs. He has not had his best games against the reigning Super Bowl champions, tallying four touchdown passes and a 78.9 passer rating in such games. Patrick Mahomes, on the other hand, has starred when facing the Ravens, logging an astounding 12 passing touchdowns and a 119.1 passer rating in such contests.
Jackson was asked during a press conference on Wednesday about competing against Mahomes, and the three-time Pro Bowler was as honest as could be on this matter.
"I don’t like competing against him at all," Jackson said. "He’s a great quarterback. Definitely a Hall of Famer, it’s a no-brainer. He’s definitely a Hall of Famer.
"I believe it’s just two greats, up-and-coming greats just going toe-to-toe like a heavyweight fight."
The Ravens’ No. 1 ranked defense will be in for quite a challenge against a quarterback in Mahomes who not many defenses have had much of an answer for in the playoffs. Mahomes has recorded 38 passing touchdowns in his playoff career.
The Ravens are eyeing their first trip to the Super Bowl in the Lamar Jackson era, while the Chiefs are looking to advance to the biggest game in the sport for the fourth time under Mahomes.
