Cleveland Browns are stockpiling candidates for their open offensive coordinator job.
The latest candidate may be the most intriguing one yet. Cleveland is set to interview current Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their opening.
Chargers have to grant permission for the Browns to interview Moore and they are expected to do just that. After they hired Jim Harbaugh to be their next head coach, the current staff will have options elsewhere.
Moore is the fifth candidate that the Browns have been interested in. So far, Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Andy Dickerson, former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson, and former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson join him.
According to Mary Kay Cabot, head coach Kevin Stefanski may have to give up play-calling duties to lure Moore in. It is something that is on the table, but it is not something that is for sure going to happen one way or another. Stefanski has called played since arriving in Cleveland in 2020.
Moore was an NFL quarterback for six seasons before beginning his coaching career with quarterbacks in Dallas during the 2018 season. From 2019-2022, Moore held the offensive coordinator title for the Cowboys.
The search for the next offensive coordinator to fill the shoes of Alex Van Pelt rolls on for the Browns. A total of five candidates have thrown their hats in on the job opening.
