The Houston Texans are waiting for the Buffalo Bills-Pittsburgh Steelers matchup to finish up; that way, they can find out who will be their next opponent for the divisional round of the 2023-24 playoffs. The Texans beat the Cleveland Browns 45-14 and are now waiting to see who they will play on Saturday. It will either be the Baltimore Ravens or the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Texans know that whoever they play won't be an easy game by any means. However, I'm sure the other teams know that, too, considering what the Texans just did to the league's best defense in the Browns. In fact, one of their potential matchups has already been locked in on the Browns.
John Harbaugh, the Ravens head coach, knows what's coming, too.
"We are deep in the preparations. Last week, we spent time on all four potential teams doing the preliminary work – a lot of film study [and] a lot of analytics. Since then, [the] Houston [Texans] won," Harbaugh said on Monday.
"We've been dialed in on Houston since the end of that game [against the Cleveland Browns] until now, continuing until about 7:30 tonight. Then, we'll see if we have to pivot to Pittsburgh. That's where we're at with that."
Even though these two teams played in Week 1, which saw the Texans with an opportunity to win the game at halftime, the Ravens pulled away. The Ravens know the Texans are much different now, and vice versa.
This game won't be like the first one. It could go differently in more ways than one. But the Ravens are ready, and the Texans have to be ready, too.
"[The Houston Texans] are 17 games different," Harbaugh continued. "I'd say [it's] coaching [and] experience – all the things a good team does that continue to improve throughout the season. They've done a really good job of that. Obviously, they're very well-coached. They have really good young players [and] some veteran players as well. They've continued to improve throughout [the season]."
The Texans will have to travel to Baltimore if that's who they end up playing. Which as this is currently being written, the Buffalo Bills are ip 21-0 over the Steelers. So, that could be who they are going to play.
Either way, the Texans will be ready, as DeMeco Ryans has had them ready all season long.
The Texans big playoff win has one clear downside
The Houston Texans pulled off a dominant playoff win over the Cleveland Browns, but it could end up being very costly.
