The Baltimore Ravens have waived running back Melvin Gordon, as noted by the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The Ravens now have three spots open on their active roster. They did recently designate a total of three players to return from the injured reserve list, including Mark Andrews.
Dalvin Cook, who signed with Baltimore's practice squad earlier this month, is another player who could soon join the Ravens’ 53-man roster. The Ravens could simply elevate him from their practice squad for their upcoming AFC Divisional round matchup against the Houston Texans.
Gordon put pen to paper on a free agent deal with the Ravens in July. He failed to make Baltimore’s initial 53-man roster, but he later agreed to take his talents to its practice squad.
Gordon was first elevated from the Ravens' practice squad before their road game against the Cincinnati Bengals in September, which came days after J.K. Dobbins suffered a season-ending torn Achilles injury.
The Ravens signed Gordon to their active roster on Dec. 19. The move came a mere two days after Keaton Mitchell sustained a season-ending knee injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Overall, Gordon tallied 127 yards from scrimmage and one rushing touchdown over four regular season games played with the Ravens.
