The Tennessee Vols have been linked to former LSU transfer offensive tackle Zalance Heard for two weeks now.  However, despite major recruiting websites pegging the Vols as the favorite to land Heard, there's been nothing but radio silence from Heard, UT, and media outlets as far as Heard heading to Knoxville.

According to University of Tennessee school records, it appears as though the Vols have secured the talented transfer's services.

Per, school records as of Friday evening, Heard is listed in the school's student database as an active student when searching for his name in the school directory.

Heard doesn't have a campus designation or an email address assigned by the university as of Friday evening, per the database.

The former LSU tackle is one of the most highly touted offensive linemen in the transfer portal.  He joined the Tigers a year ago as the #15 overall player and #3 offensive tackle in the country in the 2023 class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.  At LSU, he played in 12 games with one start.

It should be interesting to see how where he slots in with the Volunteers.  John Campbell, Jr., who announced his return for one more season with Tennessee, is the Vols' incumbent left tackle.  He performed quite well at that spot when he was healthy.  Heard appears to be best suited to play left tackle.  One of the two should end up on the right side, and it'll be curious to see who that will be.  Josh Heupel has had no reservations about moving his offensive linemen around.

But that's another story for another day, and a problem that Vol fans will be happy to have.  For now, it appears Heupel managed to land a big fish without so much as making a tiny splash along the way.
