Bill Belichick to the Falcons would be an ironic twist of fate

28-3.
No one is ever going to forget that score. And that includes Bill Belichick.
But I guess there are no hard feelings anymore between owner Arthur Blank and former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
So let's take a walk down memory lane and revisit Super Bowl LI.
At the end of the first quarter, the score was still tied at zero. But things changed almost immediately after the Patriots fumbles just seconds into the second quarter. Atlanta recovered and found their way into the end zone to take the lead.
On the next drive, the Patriots were forced to punt and the Falcons charged down the field once again and got back into the end zone to take a 14 point lead.
New England looked to turn the tides, but Tom Brady was intercepted by Robert Alford for an 82-yard pick six.
The Patriots were at least able to get a field goal before the half was over, but the Falcons came out and got a touchdown early.
So that's where the 28-3 score comes into play.
And no one will forget with Blank came down to the field for the second half, thinking that the Falcons had already solidified their victory.
Little did they know that they were playing against the best coach of all time and the greatest quarterback to ever play.
The Patriots were able to come back, forcing overtime and ultimately won Super Bowl LI after James White ran it in for two yard touchdown on the opening drive.
That victory will never be forgotten in New England, with the images of Belichick and Brady hoisting the Lombardi Trophy seared into everyone's mind.
And I'm sure it has haunted the Falcons since then.
But I guess Blank's mindset is if you can't beat them join them.
So that's why Belichick has been the clear frontrunner for Atlanta's open head coaching job. And it seems to be trending in the right direction, with Belichick having had his second interview on Friday.
Let's see what happens.
