The Baltimore Ravens’ secondary has been hit quite hard with injuries as of late. Since the start of the season, the Ravens have placed two defensive backs on the injured reserve list, and overall, eight such talents have been listed on the team's injury report at some point this year.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta has been active over the past months in dealing with the team’s injury woes within its secondary. For one, he signed a few defensive backs to the practice squad, including Andrew Adams, who is yet to play in a single game this season.
DeCosta should not be content with Baltimore's secondary depth, and he would be wise to soon bring in another veteran defensive back.
DeCosta could look to the free agent market to address this matter. The likes of Logan Ryan and P.J. Williams are currently without a contract, and they each can very well bolster the backend of Baltimore’s depth at the safety position.
If DeCosta is looking to immediately bring in a defensive back to Baltimore’s 53-man roster, he could turn to those currently on practice squads, including Ronnie Harrison. Harrison signed with the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad in August, and he is yet to feature in a game this season. The Ravens are well familiar with the former Alabama standout from his three-season run with the Cleveland Browns.
It sure will be noteworthy to see whether DeCosta ends up signing a defensive back in the coming weeks.
