The Seattle Seahawks may have dropped a tough game to the Ravens during a time where a lot of people felt this franchise would make a statement by playing well, and while it did hurt, the sky isn't falling.

The Seahawks are tied with the 49ers at 5-3, have the first wildcard spot, and are absolutely in control of their own destiny in the playoff race.

The future is currently very bright for the Seahawks in this regard.

People are going to overreact to big wins and losses. That is just the nature of a professional sport. Seattle got punched in the mouth and lost. This is okay as long as the team learns from the loss and uses this to get better down the road.

Plus, in a strange twist of fate, this helps Seattle in the playoff race in some ways.

For what it's worth, the Seahawks should have no business falling out of a wildcard spot at the very least. The NFC as a whole is terrible, and if Seattle somehow starts to slip and a team like Washington or Atlanta is able to sneak in and steal a spot, a lot of people attached to the Seahawks deserve to lose their jobs.

As it stands, Seattle is the first wildcard team and is slated to play the worst team in the playoffs: the winner of the NFC South.

The NFC South is the worst division in football. There may not be a team the Seahawks want to see more in round one than the Saints or the Buccaneers.

This is the worst-case scenario for the Seahawks. Not a bad place to be.

On the other end, with games to go against the 49ers and the rest of the NFC West, the Seahawks could win the majority of the rest of their games and potentially win the division.

This would leave Seattle with a very favorable first-round matchup to go along with home-field advantage for a decent stretch of the playoffs.

Either way, the future is extremely bright for Seattle on the playoff front.
