Maxx Crosby describes what it means to play for the Raiders after dominant win
It's different playing for the Las Vegas Raiders or any Raiders team, no matter the location. It's different playing for the Las Vegas Raiders or any Raiders team, no matter the location. It just means more, and if you have ever played for the Raiders, then you know that, and if you are a Raiders fan, then you know that. Even non-fans and non-players know that.
Sure, the Raiders haven't been a "winning" organization in some time, but they hold the franchise's history near and dear to their hearts, including the "Raider Way."
While it is long, Maxx Crosby, probably the most "Raider" player on the team, described what it means to wear the silver and black. And, like I said, it is long, but everything Crosby says is important as he goes into everything it means to be a Raiders player.
"That's what it's all about, you know, Raider Nation, the Raider, the Raider away of old school; it's like they're known for being different, like the outlaws of the league. When I first got drafted here, that's what I bought into. That's me. I felt like I was meant to be a Raider. I don't fit in, you know what I mean? It's just like, I'm 100% myself, and then, you know, whoever loves me loves me, and who doesn't, I don't give a damn. You feel that energy; it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks.
"People are like, oh, you beat one team, whatever. Why are you doing that? It's like, no, like, enjoy the sh*t and have fun with it. And that's what AP is preaching. That's what I'm preaching. Like, go have fun with it. It doesn't mean. All right, we just have one crazy week and then don't bring energy the next week. It's like, no, we have to match that and take it to another level. So that's what we plan on doing."
The man has the Raiders' shield tattoed on his body, if that doesn't tell you enough about how he is in terms of his loyalty to the team. He may get mad that the team isn't winning and things of that nature, but Crosby is truly the only current Raiders player I could see being a Raider for life. Maybe Davante Adams could be, but I do not doubt in my mind Crosby wants to retire wearing silver and black.
Crosby is also having the best year of his career so far. He had 12.5 sacks last year and is already at 9.5 with seven games remaining. He could end up being the first Raiders player to be named Defensive Player of the Year since Khalil Mack was in 2016 and the third Raiders player ever behind Mack and Lester Hayes.
Once a Raider, always a Raider.
