It has been a long wait for Kayshon Boutte.
The New England Patriots rookie receiver is ready to get back onto the field after being sidelined following his performance in Week 1.
But it appears Boutte might get another opportunity, and this time on a much bigger stage.
Ahead of the Patriots' Week 10 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany, reporters asked Bill Belichick if Boutte will be active on Sunday.
And while he didn't give a definitive answer, Belichick's happy mood led to a more detailed response.
"We’ll see how all that goes," he said. "Kayshon has had a good couple of weeks here. It’s definitely trending in the right direction, so that’s been good.
The Patriots have already ruled out DeVante Parker, who didn't travel with the team to Germany. And they are without Kendrick Bourne who tore his ACL and is out for the season.
So with that, they need a receiver to step up.
And with a chip on his shoulder after being a healthy inactive these past few weeks, he has a lot to prove.
During his first and only game on the field for the Patriots, Boutte was unable to haul in all four of his targets. And this was a major change after he finished with 131 receptions for 1,728 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns during his three years at LSU.
So let's see if he gets another chance this weekend.
