The Tennessee Volunteers have a lot on the line when they square off with the Missouri Tigers on Saturday afternoon in Columbia, MO.  A 10-win season is squarely in the cards.  A shot at repeating last year's 11-2 mark is still in play as well.

There's also another feat the Vols can accomplish by knocking off the Tigers on Saturday: sparing the honor of Volunteer State.

Missouri has already faced and defeated all other FBS-level teams in the state of Tennessee this season, and beating the Vols would reportedly make them the first to secure a clean sweep of the state.

The Tigers have managed to tame MTSU, Memphis, and Vanderbilt, but it was surprisingly difficult for them.  MTSU gave the Tigers all they could handle in a 23-19 loss.  Two weeks later, Memphis fought until the end and came up short 34-27.  The following week, to no one's surprise, Vanderbilt fell to Missouri at home 38-21.

Now, Eli Drinkwitz and his Tigers turn their sights to Tennessee, looking to knock off the Vols, Florida Gators, and Arkansas Razorbacks to complete a 10-win regular season and potentially secure an invite to a New Year's Six Bowl.  Tennessee looks to keep its SEC East hopes alive with a win and a loss by Georgia against Ole Miss on Saturday.

In order to keep those slim hopes alive, they're going to have to avoid becoming the last of a chain of losses that would truly give Missouri the claim of "Tennessee state champs".  It's just another of many reasons the Vols should come out fired up, looking to punch the Tigers in the mouth early and often on Saturday afternoon.
