The Green Bay Packers will probably be once again without two of their young building blocks on defense for the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, next Sunday. Cornerback Jaire Alexander, with a shoulder injury, and off-ball linebacker Quay Walker, with a groin issue, are listed as doubtful to play by the Packers.

New injury for Jaire

Because of a shoulder injury, Jaire Alexander didn't participate in any activity this week, and head coach Matt LaFleur had already indicated the cornerback's situation for the Steelers game wasn't promising.

"I'd say so, yeah," said LaFleur when asked if he was concerned about Jaire's health.

Alexander missed three games this year because of a back injury, but this is not the same problem anymore. The cornerback injured his shoulder during the Los Angeles Rams game.

The cornerback depth is particularly concerning, considering that the Packers traded Rasul Douglas to the Buffalo Bills and that Eric Stokes is still on the injured reserve because of a hamstring issue.

"He's a hell of a player, one of the best in the business," LaFleur said on Friday. "But we've got confidence in the other guys."

Quay Walker

Off-ball linebacker Quay Walker injured his groin during practice last week and missed the Rams game. He didn't practice this week either because of his issue.

De'Vondre Campbell and Isaiah McDuffie, who played well last Sunday, are expected to start again versus the Steelers.

Injury report

Besides the two players listed as doubtful, the Packers have five more players questionable for the game, and therefore uncertain to play.

They are DT Kenny Clark (shoulder), S Rudy Ford (calf), C Josh Myers (knee), tackle Yosh Nijman (back) and guard Jon Runyan (neck).

The other players who have been on the injury report during the week are good to go: guard Elgton Jenkins (knee), running back Aaron Jones (hamstring), and wide receiver Christian Watson (back).
