Cleveland Browns have some injuries to sort through before they turn the page to Week 11 where they’ll host the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Sunday was a big win for the Browns against division for Baltimore Ravens, but they’re dealing with the aftermath of the physicality.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski said on Monday that QB Deshaun Watson would be having an MRI on his ankle. The Browns are waiting on more information for the injuries to CB Denzel Ward (neck) and S Juan Thornhill (calf) as well.
Watson landed awkwardly on his ankle after a tackle on Sunday and had to miss a play just before halftime. He was able to return and play very well despite the ankle, so the MRI could just be precautionary. Still, any injury to him is worrying with the time he has missed this season and the way the backup position has performed.
Ward didn’t even play a half of football against the Ravens before he was cracked in the side of the head by LT Ronnie Stanley. It was a play that was reckless and one that Stanley will undoubtedly be fined for. When Ward exited it was thought to be a concussion for sure, so it being a neck may be a bit of good news considering the amount of concussions he has endured. Still, the neck is a tough spot to get injured and is dangerous in its own right.
Thornhill left the game in a walking boot and said it is up in the air whether he will be ready for Sunday against Pittsburgh. Thornhill was not immediately ruled out, he was listed as questionable at first.
All three injuries will be worth monitoring for the Browns, who need to be as healthy as possible for another AFC North game in Week 11.
